Azul is making waves on World Ocean Day, June 8, 2023! The entire crew will be in Washington DC that week to flex our power and make sure our voices are heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill.
We’ll also be having some fun, with plenty of food, music, and community time for all to enjoy! It’s not an Azul week of action if we’re not having fun together, too.

Upwell Symposium, Wednesday, June 7, (Virtual Event)
This symposium is bringing together the biggest activists working for justice and equity in ocean policy. You’ll learn more about the new wave of ocean climate leadership, shifting the ocean policy narrative, and ocean justice actions. This event is led by Azul, Center for American Progress, and Urban Ocean Lab, with support from Natural Resources Defense Council, Earthjustice, Ocean Defense Initiative, Black Girls Dive, and more.

Fiesta Azul, Wednesday, June 7 at 7pm, at the Eaton Hotel
Join Azul to celebrate the graduation of the first class of Azul’s Rising Leaders Initiative! We’ve been working with a group of Latinx activists from 14 different states and territories, from Alaska all the way to Puerto Rico. These Rising Leaders have been through a comprehensive leadership development program, designed to equip them with the tools to become more effective ocean leaders in their communities. Let’s celebrate their graduation and what comes next!
