We’ve got to stop the plastic crisis, and we have to do it on a global scale because it’s a global problem.
For the past two years, advocates and leaders from around the world have been meeting to create a GLOBAL response to plastic pollution — and Azul has been there every step of the way to make sure the needs of Latinx communities are taken into account in the final treaty.
📅 Join us tomorrow for a livestream with our founder and executive director, Marce, who is in Nairobi for the plastics treaty negotiations!
🎥 We’ll kick off in Spanish at 9 am PST / 12 pm EST, followed by English at 9:30 am PST / 12:30 pm PST on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
So far, there have been two global meetings of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution of the United Nations. (Phew! That’s a mouthful. We just call it INC for short 😅). This week, we’re at the third global meeting!
Latinx communities are more likely to be in close proximity to polluted sites at each stage of plastic production. To solve the plastic crisis equitably, any global treaty will need to account for our health and the health of our communities.
Azul is working hard to make sure that happens. Make sure to tune in tomorrow to hear from Marce in Nairobi:
